A week and a half ago I wrote a post advising Shelley Sterling to do the smart thing financially and push for the immediate sale of the Clippers. As I noted then, doing this allows Sterling to control the terms of the sale and maintain a competitive bidding process that should extract maximum value from the sale. And the Clippers get sold before a death of one thousand cuts reduces the team to a husk of its current self.
I’ve got to admit, I never saw Shelley as having the right stuff to actually follow through but she has. Here’s the TMZ story with details of the six current bidders for the team. Personally, I’d love to see Magic and his partners end up in control of the Clippers but I suspect that’s not going to be the eventual outcome.
